Chiang Khan guesthouse, discover the real
Thailand!
At Chiang Khan guesthouse,
you have only to peer out of you window and there it is, the
yellow-gold sun rising over the green hills of Laos, and the broad
stately progress of the mighty Mekhong.
Starting from a thousand trickles in the Tibetan plateau, flowing
through Southwest China and Northern Laos, the Mekhong is already
immense when it reaches Isan, the northeast region of Thailand. It
enters the Kingdom little upstream from Chiang Khan, where wooden
houses pile skywards along the high bank, like grandstands for
welcoming the great waters to Thailand.
Ok, but where is it?
Thai-Laos bridge now open for foreigners with visa on arrival.
What others say about Chiang Khan:
Chiang Khan - Urban Idyll in Isan
"Perhaps the friendliest place in town is the Chiang Khan Guesthouse situated in an old teak building on the riverbank near the center of town. It is run by Huub, a Dutchman, and his good woman Pim. For homelike hospitality and a source of local information it can't be beat.":
